The GRP-H will cover the functions offered by GTD and some of the basic functions of GTF.

The new GRP family will cover applications where the following functions are needed:

• Partial load break alarm;
• Digital control or control of power output proportional to an analog command;
• Load control type in Zero Crossing and BurstFiring mode.
• These functions are already on the market in competitive products and GTT GTD families.

The following developments are also planned to differentiate the product and provide new benefits to the market:

• IO-Link control option;
• Advanced Diagnostics;
• Advanced Firing mode (Half Single Cycle, Phase Angle and Soft Start);
• Configuration and diagnostic management via smartphone app and NFC technology;
• Joints with increased I2t for combining SSR with magnetothermic switch.

The feature that most distinguishes GRP is that it is the first SSR controlled via the Point-to- Point IO-Link communication protocol.

The introduction of this technology will allow a synergy in the range of IO-Link products of Gefran. GRP with IO-Link will give us the lead in offering this technology in the field of electrical load control.

The increasing need of data, coming directly from the last mile of the plant, pushes us to equip also SSR of this range with microcontrollers. We will then be able to provide a large amount of data describing the status and working history of the object.

By means of IO-Link and NFC interface these data will be communicated in an effective and affordable manner.

Loads and Firing Modes

Thanks to the different types of Firing mode it is possible to control resistive loads of electric heating such as linear resistances and Long and Medium Wave Infrared lamps.

Phase Angle control in combination with a soft start ramp are useful modes to efficiently manage heating with Infrared Lamps.

Diagnostics It is available a full diagnostic of heating circuit faults such as: Partial load breakage Protection fuse breakage Voltage failure SCR short circuit Thanks to the particularly accurate reading of the load current with ratiometric measurement, GRPs are able to signal the breakage of heating resistors up to 1/6 of the total load. This kind of feature, that allows GRP to measure the load current compensating eventual voltage variations, is an improvement compared to the solutions currently available in the SSR market where a high uncertainty in detecting partial load breakage is possible.

IO-Link Communication Factory digitization is reaching its final frontier, the field level of the automation pyramid. Historically at this level are sensors and actuators the real muscles and senses of our production processes. In this level IO-Link is proving to be the most suitable communication to reach this level of automation. IO-Link was the first international standardized communication technology (IEC 61131-9) for Sensors and Actuators.

This is all thanks to NFC technology, which allows the user interface to be extended by using standard Smartphones or Tablets as intelligent configurators.
